Viet Nam Photo Collection

I served in the U.S. Army in Viet Nam from March 1968 to June 1970.

The video slide show below contains some of the over 3,000 pictures I took during my time there, synchonized to actual audio from AFVN radio circa 1969-70.    The originals are Kodachrome and Ektachrome slides, converted to digital form with a Nikon Coolscan LS-5000 film scanner.

The slide show video is in H.264 MP4 format playable on all modern browsers. This presentation was originally created with the first-gen Windows Movie Maker included with Windows XP. The maximum output video resolution of this program was only 480x640 VGA (i.e. NTSC analog TV resolution); far far worse than the original slide scans. As a result, the images may appear either small, or somewhat fuzzy, when up-scaled to modern higher-resolution screens.

In the near future, I plan to redo this video in modern 1920x1080-line Full-HD.
